Terms of sale
These are the terms you buy under. They are written to be read, not to hide things. Nothing here takes away a right you have under South African law — where a term and the law disagree, the law wins.

2. What we sell
Certified pre-owned iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones. Each handset is inspected on 30 points before it is listed, has a clean IMEI, and is photographed on the actual unit you receive — the photos on the product page are of that phone, not a stock image.
These are used devices. That means:
- There may be light signs of use — fine marks on the frame, a faint scratch on the glass. Anything more serious is called out on the product page.
- Consumable parts (charging cycles, speaker mesh) are in working order but are not new.
- Accessories are stated per listing. If the box does not say charger, there is no charger.
- Colour and specifications follow GSMArena for that model and capacity.
We do not sell locked, blacklisted, financed or reported-stolen handsets. If a phone ever turns out to be blacklisted, that is our problem, not yours — see the IMEI guarantee.
3. Prices
- All prices are in South African rand (ZAR) and include the handset plus delivery where the cart shows "Free".
- The price you pay is the price on the checkout summary at the moment you place the order. It does not move afterwards.
- Courier is R99 per parcel of up to three phones, and free on orders over R1,500.
- No card surcharge. The rand total at checkout is the amount you pay — there is no processing fee and no second currency conversion.
- Import duties, where SARS charges them on entry, are not included in the price. If a parcel is held for duty, we will tell you before it moves.
4. Placing an order
- You add a phone to the bag and fill in delivery details at checkout. That creates an order number (
PX-…), saves the order with us and shows you the bank details to pay into. - The confirmation screen also has a one-tap button that sends the same order to us on WhatsApp, so the whole thing sits in one chat thread. Sending it is optional — the order is already logged against your order number.
- We confirm stock, then you pay by EFT into the collection account.
- Stock is held for 48 hours while an EFT clears. After that the phone goes back on the shelf and any payment is refunded in full.
We may decline or cancel an order if the phone sold out in the meantime, if the delivery address cannot be reached, or if we suspect fraud. If we cancel, you get everything back in full.
5. Paying
Bank transfer (EFT)
Pay into the Nedbank collection account shown at checkout. The payment memo must read XTFC00105197ZAR exactly — it is the merchant reference that routes the money to us, not something we invented. The account name reads FINCRA TECHNOLOGIES LTD XT because collections run through our payment provider; that is expected. RTC, RTGS, Instant EFT and manual EFT all land fine. Cash deposits and cheques do not.
Bank transfer is the only payment method
Every order is paid by rand EFT into that account — there is no second way to pay, so the amount and memo at checkout are all you need. WhatsApp is our chat channel for stock questions and proof of payment, not a way to pay: nobody at PreOwnX will ask you to send money through the chat, and a chat message on its own never reserves a phone.
Proof of payment
A screenshot is a clue, not proof. We ship when the money shows in the account, and we check it every business morning and afternoon. Never send card numbers, CVVs or bank login details over chat — we will never ask for them.
6. Delivery
- Dispatched 3–5 working days after payment clears.
- Then about 15 days in transit (14–18 depending on the route), carried by Aramex. Main centres — Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria — land at the quicker end; outlying towns add 2–3 days.
- The tracking number appears in My orders the moment the parcel leaves us, with a link to the carrier.
- We deliver to the address you typed. Check it — a wrong postal code adds a week and a re-delivery fee.
- Risk passes to you on delivery. If nobody is there to sign, the courier will try again; after two failed attempts the parcel returns to us and we will contact you to re-send it.
7. Cancelling before it ships
You can cancel any order before it is dispatched and get a full refund — message us on WhatsApp with the order number. If the parcel is already with Aramex, treat it as a return under Returns & warranty.
8. Warranty
Every phone carries a 6-month warranty from delivery, on top of the rights the Consumer Protection Act already gives you. What is covered, what is not, and how a claim works is set out in full on the Returns & warranty page.
9. If something goes wrong
Tell us first, on WhatsApp, with your order number. We answer within one business day and aim to resolve a complaint within 10 business days.
If we cannot sort it out, you can take it further — at no cost to you — to the National Consumer Commission (thencc.org.za) or, for a supplier-bound dispute, the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (cgso.org.za).
10. Law and changes
These terms are governed by South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Nothing in them limits your rights under those Acts, and no term here should be read as an exclusion of liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else the law does not allow us to exclude.
We may update these terms; the version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it. The date at the top of this page always tells you which version you are reading.
